Malaysia's SIRIM certification
What is Malaysia's SIRIM certification?
SIRIM is the only certification body in Malaysia. All electronic products entering Malaysia require an application for a SIRIM certification certificate. In principle, the applicant should be a local organization in Malaysia. The application and management of SIRIM certification are specifically handled by SIRIM QAS International, which issues the SIRIM certificate.
Basic Information on SIRIM Certification:
- Mandatory certification
- Sample testing required
- Local testing required (for functional verification only)
- Certificate validity period of 5 years
- Processing time of 3-5 weeks
Scope of SIRIM Certified Products:
- Communication equipment and 31 types of products specified in the Electrical Equipment (Approval) Regulations require mandatory type approval and safety certification, including:

SIRIM Certification Application Process:
1. Evaluate if the product requires SIRIM certification.
2. Conduct IECCB testing and certification (if there is an IECCB certificate, this step can be omitted).
3. Register for ST; energy-efficient products require an audit of the energy efficiency report.
4. Submit IECCE report and factory quality documents to apply for SIRIM certification.
5. After document review approval, accept the application and arrange for a factory audit.
6. Upon passing the factory audit, submit for approval.
7. Issue the SIRIM Product Certification Certificate.
