Dustproof and waterproof refer to the ability of a device or product to prevent dust intrusion and water penetration through its design. This is commonly applied in fields such as electronics, outdoor equipment, and industrial machinery to enhance product reliability and lifespan in harsh environments.
IP Protection Rating (Ingress Protection)
The dustproof and waterproof capability is usually indicated by the IP code in the format IPXX, where:
First X: Dustproof level (0~6, with higher numbers indicating stronger protection)
Second X: Waterproof level (0~9K, with higher numbers indicating stronger protection)
IP0X - No protection
IP1X - Protection against solid objects ≥50mm in diameter
IP2X - Protection against solid objects ≥12.5mm in diameter
IP3X - Protection against solid objects ≥2.5mm in diameter
IP4X - Protection against solid objects ≥1.0mm in diameter
IP5X - Dust-protected
IP6X - Dust-tight
