What is wercs registration? 

wercs certification is a product certification requiRED for products entering major supermarkets and retailers in countries like the United States and Canada. WERCS is a database company that now partners with giant supermarkets like Walmart and Tesco. Its aim is to require upstream suppliers to input their product information into the system, where it is assessed to help downstream companies understand hazard information. WERCS is a provider of green supply chain systems and software for cheMICal regULation compliance. The software packages it offers play an important role in assisting clients with product information management and hazard information transmission.

Which products need WERCS certification? 

1. All products containing chemicals 

2. Over-the-counter medications and nutritional supplements 

3. Personal care products 

4. Battery-powered products 

5. Products with circuit boards or electronics 

6. All types of batteries 

7. Light bulbs 

8. Foods distributed in aerosol or capsule valve form 

9. Edible oils 

(Products containing certain chemicals that retailers (customers) using the WERCSmart system handle require registration. General clothing and food products do not require registration, except for foods in special containers like sprayers or vacuum tubes. Retailers may require suppliers to register.)
