IEC 60950-1:2013 is an international standard for the safety requirements of Information Technology Equipment (ITE). This standard defines the safety requirements for IT equipment to ensure that products do not pose any danger to users and the environment under normal, foreseeable, and abnormal use conditions.
The IEC 60950-1 test applies to information technology equipment powered by electrical or battery sources, including electrical business equipment and related devices with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V.
1. Temperature Test: Evaluates the device's ability to operate within a certain temperature range under normal and abnormal conditions.
2. Electrical Safety Test: Includes protection against electric shock and insulation testing to ensure the device provides safe electrical protection to users during normal use.
3. Mechanical Strength Test: Assesses whether the structure and casing of the device are robust enough to prevent damage or danger from external forces.
4. Flame Spread Test: Tests the fire resistance of the device's casing and materials to prevent flame propagation and spread.
5. Liquid Ingress Test: Evaluates the device's waterproof capabilities to prevent electrical faults or hazards caused by liquid entering the device.
6. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test: Tests the device's electromagnetic radiation and immunity performance to ensure stability under normal operation and electromagnetic interference from the surrounding environment.
7. Radiation Test: Measures the device's radiation levels to ensure compliance with international electromagnetic radiation standards, avoiding danger to users and the environment.
8. Misoperation Test: Evaluates whether the device remains stable and avoids dangerous situations during potential user errors.
9. Marking and Labeling Test: Ensures that the markings and labels on the device are clear, visible, and provide correct information for proper user operation.
Depending on the specific type and application of the equipment, the testing items in IEC 60950-1 may vary. The above are some common examples, and the actual selection and implementation of testing items will be determined based on specific product and standard requirements. Before testing, it is recommended to consult professional testing organizations or certification bodies that comply with IEC 60950-1 standards (such as JJRLAB in China) to obtain the latest testing requirements and guidelines.
