With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, wireless devices are playing an increasingly important role in our daily lives. Devices such as mobile phones, wireless routers, and smartwatches have become indispensable communication tools. However, the use of wireless devices also brings about the issue of wireless radiation. To ensure the safe and reliable use of wireless devices, the European Union has established a series of standards and regulations, one of which is EN 62479.
EN 62479:2010 is a standard under the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU). EN 62479:2010 assesses whether low power electronic and electrical equipment meets the basic restrictions related to human exposure to electromagnetic fields (10 MHz to 300 GHz).
EN 62479:2010 provides a simple conformity assessment method for low power electronic and electrical equipment concerning exposure limits to electromagnetic fields (EMF). If the methods included in this standard cannot demonstrate that such equipment meets the applicable EMF exposure requirements, other standards (including IEC 62311 or other EMF product standards) may be used for conformity assessment.
When conducting EN 62479 testing, appropriate testing instruments and equipment need to be selected first. Testing instruments typically include spectrum analyzers, power meters, antennas, etc., which are used to detect the radiation level and spectrum distribution of the equipment. Additionally, necessary preparations such as calibrating instruments and setting testing parameters must be completed before testing.
For a simple conformity assessment method for low power electronic and electrical equipment to meet the exposure limits related to electromagnetic fields (EMF), please contact China JJR Laboratory for an EN 62479:2010 test report. We are an IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.
