C-Tick certification is an EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) certification program in Australia. When electronic and electrical products enter the Australian market, they must carry not only safety markings but also an EMC mark, referred to as the C-Tick mark. The purpose of this certification is to protect radio communication spectrum resources. Before applying for the C-Tick mark, the product must be tested according to relevant CISPR standards. The Australian importer must endorse and submit the test report, which is then processed by the Australian Communications Authority (ACA), which issues the registration number. Devices Regulated Under A-Tick Certification:
The following devices fall under the A-Tick regulatory scope:
- Telephones (including cordless phones and mobile phones that use Voice over Internet Protocol)
- Modems (including dial-up and ADSL modems)
- Answering machines
- Mobile phones
- ISDN equipment
- Telecommunication headsets and amplifiers
- Cable equipment and cables
In summary, any device that can connect to the telecommunication network requires A-Tick certification.
1. AS/NZS CISPR 11 - EMC requirements for ISM (industrial, scientific, and medical) equipment
2. AS/NZS CISPR 12 - EMC requirements for spark-ignition engines
3. AS/NZS CISPR 13 - EMC requirements for audiovisual and broadcasting equipment
4. AS/NZS CISPR 14 - EMC requirements for appliances and power tools
5. AS/NZS CISPR 15 - EMC requirements for lighting equipment
6. AS/NZS CISPR 22 - EMC requirements for information technology equipment
7. AS/NZS 61000-6-3 - General EMC requirements for residential, commercial, and light industrial environments
8. AS/NZS 61000-6-4 - General EMC requirements for heavy industrial environments
Compliance Engineering can provide EMC conformity testing services to help you meet the requirements for C-Tick certification. JJR Laboratories in China also offers preliminary EMC testing services and C-Tick registration for non-Australian clients. Experienced staff are available to assist with the investigation and selection of EMC suppression components.
For most products with wireless signal sources, compliance with AS/NZS 4268 standards is required.
