The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), formerly known as the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, was established in 2015 with the inclusion of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. EAC certification stands for Eurasian Conformity, which is a product certification system implemented by the EAEU.
Electronic and electrical products usually need to comply with three main standards:
1. TR CU 004/2011: On the safety of low-voltage equipment.
2. TR CU 020/2011: Electromagnetic compatibility technical regulations.
3. EAEU TR 037/2016: Restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electronic and electrical products.
Typically:
- The first two standards require an EAC Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
- The third standard requires an EAC Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
1. CB Report and Certificate (or alternatively, an LVD safety report if unavailable).
2. EMC Report.
3. CIG 023 Factory Audit Report (or certification from an organization that does not require a factory audit, if unavailable).
4. Application Form.
5. User Manual in Russian.
1. Choose a Certification Body.
2. Prepare the Required Documents based on the checklist provided by the certification body.
3. Submit the Documents to the certification body.
4. Depending on the requirements, provide a CIG 023 Factory Audit Report or undergo a video-based factory inspection.
5. The certification body issues a draft certificate.
6. Depending on the certification body, you may need to send a functional sample unit for evaluation.
7. The certification body issues the final certificate.
The certificate holder must be a legal entity from a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union. Non-EAEU companies cannot act as certificate holders. Foreign companies can only be listed on the certificate as Manufacturer or Factory.
- EAC certificates can be issued for single shipments or for 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years, with 5 years being the most common choice for electronic and electrical products.
- Once issued, an EAC certificate cannot be updated. If changes are needed during the validity period, a new certificate must be applied for.
