Even if there are no legal requirements, all companies should be sensitive to environmental and human health concerns. However, both domestically and internationally, manufacturers produce thousands of large- or small-scale products that irreversibly harm the environment and human health. On the global stage, these companies often focus solely on financial gains, showing no sensitivity beyond cost reduction.
Additionally, considering the environmental conditions we live in, some manufacturers are highly conscious of recycling. However, thousands of companies have yet to take any action on this issue or show any concern.
As a result, various countries have imposed certain restrictions and sanctions through their respective authorities to prevent these negative effects. However, RoHS originates from internationally recognized system requirements, and its directives mandate that electronics companies comply with environmental and human health standards.
The RoHS certificate stipulates that electronic products circulating in the European market must not contain any harmful elements or chemicals. Therefore, all electronics companies wishing to continue trading in the market must obtain a RoHS certificate. In our country, regulations have been issued based on the RoHS directive, known as the Regulation on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE Regulation).
Not only companies producing transistors, connectors, integrated circuits, and other electronic materials but also manufacturers of printed circuits, semi-finished, or finished products using these materials can obtain ROHS certification. The key standard here is ensuring that the manufacturing process of electronic devices does not harm the environment or pose risks to human health during use.
For RoHS certification, the product and all its components are sent to an accredited laboratory. If, after the necessary tests, the product is found to contain no prohibited substances, it can be granted a RoHS certificate. On the other hand, based on the analysis results, a report is issued depending on whether the proportion of restricted chemicals falls within the acceptable limits.
