The United States has stringent safety requirements, and domestic electronic product manufacturers have been required to undergo relevant safety compliance testing for many years. With Amazon's growing strategic importance in global commerce, an increasing number of foreign electronic devices are entering the U.S. market via Amazon. However, the U.S. does not impose mandatory safety compliance testing on foreign manufacturers.
Due to a series of fire incidents caused by electronic products, on September 24, 2017, U.S. authorities issued regulations specifically targeting e-commerce. These regulations require Amazon to notify overseas sellers on its platform to provide relevant safety compliance reports. Before submitting a UL standard test report, Amazon must order sellers to halt sales. Additionally, the U.S. mandates that test reports must be issued by laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 or ILAC ISO 17025 standards.
UL507 applies to the following types of products:
a) Air circulation fans and blowers, such as desktop, ceiling, and hanging fans.
b) Ventilation fans and blowers, including attic, wall-mounted, ceiling-insert, household range hoods, canopy-type, and window fans.
c) Dryer-type fans used for drying carpets or floors.
d) Evaporative coolers.
e) Air filtration equipment.
f) Fan-type deodorizers and air fresheners.
g) Component fans.
h) Low-voltage component fans.

Amazon's U.S. site requires laboratories accredited under ILAC ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
The cost depends on the product’s features, as different products require different tests. In China, JJR Laboratory charges between $550 and $800 for ul testing.
The standard processing time is 5-7 business days. If the product fails the test, a new sample must be provided for re-testing.
As long as the UL testing standard remains unchanged, the UL test report remains valid indefinitely.
