As product compliance regulations in the European Union become more stringent, the Temu platform has strengthened its qualification controls. Following a crackdown on counterfeit certifications, Temu has recently started implementing comprehensive controls on CE-RoHS certification requirements.
Sellers who are selling electronic and electrical products to Europe should be aware that all products meeting directive requirements must provide CE-RoHS and CE-EMC certifications. Sellers can check in the backend compliance center to see whether these two certifications need to be uploaded for their products.
The platform has started removing non-compliant products! Products with valid certifications should upload the corresponding certifications as soon as possible. Sellers without the required certifications need to obtain them quickly to avoid having their products removed.
Recently, Temu also issued a requirement that each model, material, and color of products must be separately tested and meet compliance standards before being listed. Otherwise, there will be severe consequences! It is no longer allowed to combine certifications for different models, series, or colors as was done previously.
RoHS, short for "Restriction of Hazardous Substances," is an important environmental regulation established by the European Union. The latest RoHS directive is 2015/863/EU. This directive aims to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to reduce their harmful effects on the environment and human health.
RoHS applies to "electrical and electronic equipment" (EEE), which refers to devices designed to operate with an electrical current or electromagnetic field and have a rated voltage not exceeding 1000V AC or 1500V DC. This includes equipment used to generate, transmit, and measure such currents and fields. Specific categories include:
- Large household appliances
- Small household appliances
- Information technology and telecommunications equipment
- Consumer electronics
- Lighting equipment
- Electrical and electronic tools
- Toys, leisure, and sports equipment
- Medical devices
- Monitoring instruments, including industrial control instruments
- Automatic dispensers
- Other electrical and electronic equipment not covered by the categories above
With the release of the new standards, China’s RoHS regulations now include the following restricted substances:
1. Four phthalates (DBP, BBP, DEHP, DIBP) are now included in the scope of the standard:
- Lead (Pb): ≤0.1%
- Mercury (Hg): ≤0.1%
- Cadmium (Cd): ≤0.01%
- Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)): ≤0.1%
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB): ≤0.1%
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE): ≤0.1%
- Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): ≤0.1%
- Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP): ≤0.1%
- Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): ≤0.1%
- Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): ≤0.1%
2. Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is tested and determined according to the method specified in GB/T 39560.701, and the result is reported as "hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] negative."
