What are the steps for applying for EPA Registration for disinfection equipment in the USA? According to the US epa certification and registration regulations, disinfection products must provide an EPA registration number to be listed on Amazon US. If disinfection products do not have an EPA registration number, Amazon US will not allow the products to be listed. So, how can disinfection products obtain an EPA registration number?

What is EPA?

EPA certification is a mandatory environmental certification in the United States. EPA stands for the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Its primary task is to protect the health of its people and the natural environment, including air, water, and land. The EPA mainly focuses on emission performance environmental certification. It tests the engine emissions of locomotives and determines whether they meet the minimum environmental protection standards based on the vehicle's performance and emission values. If they meet the EPA requirements, the EPA will issue a compliance certificate.

EPA Disinfection Product Classification

- Pesticide Product: Insecticide and germicidal products (using chemical substances) such as pesticides, herbicides, antimicrobials, fungicides, insect attractants, disinfectants, sterilizers, nematicides, fumigants, defoliants, plant growth regulators, rodenticides, algaecides, molluscicides, water treatment agents, and other insecticidal and germicidal chemical agents containing active ingredients.

- Device: Ozone disinfectors, UV disinfectors, UV water filters, UV air filters, UV mosquito lamps, ultrasonic pest repellers, UV sterilizers, high-frequency bird repellers, electronic rodent repellers, air sterilizers, and other devices that achieve disinfection and insect control through physical functions. These require a company number, factory number, submission of reports, and annual reports.

EPA Certification Application Process

1. Apply for a manufacturer code (based on the manufacturer's provided information).

2. The manufacturer provides samples as required.

3. The institution tests the products.

4. Based on the test results, if the initial review is qualified, a formal written application is submitted to the EPA.

5. The EPA management department accepts the application.

6. The EPA conducts a strict review of the submitted materials, with relevant departments providing timely feedback during the review process.

7. If the EPA has doubts about the materials or test results, it may require necessary verification tests, which can extend the review time.

8. If the review is successful and the materials and data meet the requirements, the EPA will record the information and issue a compliance certificate.

Amazon sellers who do not have an EPA registration number need to register with the EPA to prevent their products from being unable to be sold normally. For EPA certification in the US, the product must fully comply with US FIFRA regulations and state regulations, including registration and labeling requirements, to be sold.
