With the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increasing focus on indoor air quality. According to market monitoring data, the demand for health and sterilization-related home appliances, especially air purifiers, has seen explosive growth.

The types of air purifiers include:

- Electrostatic air purifiers

- Filter-based air purifiers

- Multifunctional products with air purification features

Testing Scope:

- Safety testing

- UV and ozone testing

- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing

- Performance testing

Air purifiers exported to the United States need to undergo FCC Part 15 certification testing. The product mainly involves two sections of FCC Part 15:

FCC Part 15 Subpart B - Unintentional Radiators

This applies to all electronic devices, particularly those without built-in wireless functionality but that may emit or receive electromagnetic radiation. Air purifiers typically fall into this category. This certification ensures that the device does not emit electromagnetic interference (EMI) beyond the regulatory limits during normal use, preventing interference with other devices' operation.

- Conducted Emissions: Radiation transmitted via the power line.

- Radiated Emissions: Radiation transmitted through the air.

FCC Part 15 Subpart C - Intentional Radiators

This applies to products with built-in wireless communication functions (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.). If the air purifier includes such features, it needs to meet the requirements of this section. The purpose of certification is to ensure that these wireless devices do not interfere with other wireless communication devices.

- RF Emission Limits: Ensures that radio emissions do not exceed the limits set by the FCC.

- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing: Ensures wireless devices are compatible with other electronics and do not cause interference.

Certification Process:

- Laboratory Testing: The device must be tested in a qualified laboratory to check if it meets the relevant FCC Part 15 requirements.

- Report and Compliance Statement: After testing, the certification body will issue a report. The device must provide a compliance statement indicating adherence to the regulations.

- Labeling Requirements: Devices that comply with FCC Part 15 must bear the required certification marks on the product, such as "FCC ID" or "This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules."

JJR Laboratory Certification Scope:

- International: North American ETL/FCC, EU CE/GS, Multinational CB, Australia SAA, Korea KC, etc.

- Domestic: Voluntary certification, Jiuxing Certification
