Mobile and Tablet EU Energy Efficiency Testing and Certification

Introduction

On 2023-08-31, the EU issued the energy efficiency Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2023/1670 and the Energy Label Regulation (EU) 2023/1669 for mobile phones, cordless phones, and tablets. These energy efficiency regulations will be enforced starting 2025-06-20. 

Purpose: Through the energy label program, battery lifespan can be significantly extended, thereby increasing the product life of smartphones and tablets. As a result, smartphones and tablets are included within the scope of the energy label requirements.
