Introduction to kc certification

KC certification is a mandatory certification by the South Korean government aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of electrical equipment and building materials. Lighting fixtures, as one type of electrical equipment, must comply with KC certification requirements to enter the Korean market. Certified lighting fixtures receive a certification mark, signifying they have passed all safety and performance tests and meet Korean technical standards.

Testing Items for Lighting Fixtures KC Certification:

Lighting fixtures require a series of tests to ensure safety and performance. These tests include:

1. Structural Testing: Verifies the fixture's structural integrity and identifies potential risks of cracking or damage.

2. Electrical Testing: Ensures compliance of voltage, current, and power parameters.

3. Optical Testing: Assesses optical performance, including luminous flux, color temperature, and color rendering index.

4. Thermal Testing: Checks heat resistance under various conditions to prevent overheating.

5. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing: Verifies the product does not cause electromagnetic interference.

6. Chemical Testing: Ensures materials comply with standards and contain no harmful substances.

Steps to Apply for KC Certification:

1. Submit Application: Manufacturers or importers submit an application to the Korea Electrical Safety Research Institute and pay the application fee.

2. Product Testing: After approval, the product undergoes various tests conducted by accredited laboratories, with costs borne by the applicant.

3. Factory Inspection: After passing the tests, the Korea Electrical Safety Research Institute inspects the production facility to ensure compliance with standards.

4. Certification Approval: If both product testing and factory inspection are successful, the KC certification certificate is issued, and the certification mark can be used.

5. Supervisory Inspection: Certified products undergo regular inspections to ensure ongoing compliance.
