The REACH Regulation is legislation (EC 1907/2006) concerning the registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals, aimed at proactive management of chemicals entering the European Union market. As of June 1, 2007, the REACH Regulation has been formally implemented.
According to REACH Regulation, if an article contains Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) above 0.1% (w/w), downstream users or consumers must be notified to fulfill information obligations. Additionally, if an article contains SVHC above 0.1% (w/w) and exports exceed 1 tonne annually, notification to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is required. Furthermore, in accordance with the Waste Framework Directive (WFD), since January 5, 2021, substances with SVHC concentrations above 0.1% must be reported to SCIP.
On January 23, 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the 30th batch of 6 SVHCs, bringing the total to 240 substances.
