1. Introduction
India BIS certification is a product certification system established and supervised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). BIS is the only product certification body in India. Its main tasks are to formulate and promote national standards and implement a conformity assessment system to ensure that products comply with Indian national standards, protect consumer rights, and promote international trade.
2. Mandatory Control Products
There are four schemes for India’s BIS compulsory product certification, namely Scheme – I (ISI Mark Scheme), Scheme – II (Registration Scheme), Scheme – IV (Certificate Of Conformity) and Scheme – X (Certification).
Scheme II (Compulsory Registration Scheme, CRS) is a compulsory registration scheme.
1) Full name: Compulsory Registration Scheme, also known as CRS certification, is a registration scheme implemented by BIS authorized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), Ministry of Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Textile Department of India.
2) Is it mandatory: Mandatory registration.
3) Requirements: Mainly for electronic and information technology products, products must be registered with BIS, but factory inspection is not required.
4) Product range: including tablet computers, microwave ovens, wireless keyboards, printers, power adapters, LED lights, lithium batteries, mobile power supplies, mobile phones and smart card readers, etc.
5) Registration validity period: 2 years (renewable).

3. Certification Process
1) Confirm the contract
2) Payment
3) Submit samples and information to BIS designated agency for testing
4) Designated agency provides report confirmation
5) Designated institution for BIS registration
6) Complete registration and obtain official report and certificate
IV. Information and matters needing attention
1. Product English manual
2. Schematic diagram and PCB diagram of the whole machine
3. CDF (depending on the product, accepting UL or CB certificates)
4. BIS certification report and certificate for external power adapter and lithium battery
5. Product nameplate
6. Provide model difference description, applicable when applying for series
Note:
The certificate holder must be a factory (with ISO certificate)
The holder must have a representative office or agent in India
The test must be taken in India
For series application, the number of models cannot exceed 10 per report.
The test report must be submitted within 90 days of application
