The International Electrotechnical Commission (IECEE) Certification Body (CB) Scheme is the first truly international system for mutual recognition of safety test reports and certificates for electrotechnical products (including electrical and electronic equipment, devices and assemblies).
The CB certification system is based on an internationally recognized product safety standards system and utilizes the CB Testing Laboratory (CBTL) global network.
The CB system is based on the IEC safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards for relevant electronic and electrical equipment approved by the IECEE, and achieves mutual recognition of test results for 19 major categories of electrical products including batteries, household appliances, information electrical equipment, and medical electrical equipment .

CB certification document preparation
1. Product instruction manual;
2. Safety design files (including key structural drawings, i.e. design drawings that reflect creepage distance, clearance, number of insulation layers and thickness);
3. Product technical requirements (or enterprise standards);
4. Product electrical schematic diagram;
5. Product roadmap;
6. List of key components or raw materials (please choose products with European certification marks);
7. A copy of the certification of the whole machine or components;
8. Other required information.
Key steps in the CB system
Manufacturers submit product samples to the CB testing laboratory to test whether they comply with specific IEC standards and whether they are consistent with any technical requirements in the IEC standards that apply to the certification country .
CB testing laboratories perform product testing to assess whether the product meets the relevant technical requirements . If the product meets all technical requirements, the CB testing laboratory will issue a CB test report and test certification to the relevant product manufacturer.
The manufacturer then submits samples, CB test reports and test certification to the national certification body of the relevant country to obtain national certification. This certification proves that the product meets national technical standards and obtains legal authority to enter the market .
