ROHS is a mandatory standard established by EU legislation, formally known as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive. It regulates materials and manufacturing processes for electronic and electrical products to promote health and environmental protection.
The ROHS directive applies to the following regions:
EU Member States (27 countries): France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Cyprus, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, and the United Kingdom (which exited the EU in 2016).

For common products, ROHS certification usually takes 5–7 days after receiving the required samples and documents. There is no specific validity period; the report needs to be updated in line with directive updates.
