Toys for children aged 0-14 years encompass a wide variety of types and materials, each requiring different standards. Given the current high living standards, most households with children have a plethora of toys, which directly impacts children's health. The European Union has its own toy safety standard: EN 71-3:2013+A1:2014. This new standard will be harmonized into the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC (TSD) after being officially accepted by the European Commission and published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). As the number of toys increases, the market's requirements for toy listings in various countries are becoming stricter.
Europe introduced the EN 71 toy safety directive to ensure that toy products entering the European market meet safety technical specifications, thereby reducing harm to children.
The EN 71 toy certification is valid indefinitely as long as there are no new standards introduced.
Generally, upon receiving the test sample, payment, and complete documentation, and provided there is no queue, testing will commence. The typical duration is around 5 days.
