As Amazon's strategic position in global commerce continues to rise, products with electrical components listed on Amazon require relevant UL reports. A test report from a laboratory with ISO 17025 certification is required for normal sales and link restoration. If products purchased by competitors or customers lack relevant safety standard reports, they may engage a U.S. lawyer to send a letter to Amazon demanding the cessation of the sale of the company's products and initiate court procedures to destroy all the company’s products on Amazon. This could essentially mean the company is pushed out of the North American market. Many sellers have reported receiving such notifications, and their products have faced issues like suspension of sales or removal of listings due to failure to provide the UL test report within the stipulated time.
- UL Certification: Voluntary certification that requires product testing and factory auditing, with quarterly audits. The process is expensive and time-consuming, and factory audits are very strict.
- UL Test Report: After testing a product according to the relevant UL standard and passing, a qualified test report is issued. This is cheaper, faster, and does not require a factory audit. It can be used for Amazon reviews but is invalid for customs clearance.
