Introduction to IP:

IP stands for International Protection, and it represents the internationally recognized protection level. IP protection levels are generally composed of two digits or additional letters: the first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects entering, while the second digit indicates the level of protection against water ingress. The higher the numbers, the higher the level of protection.

Introduction to IP Protection Levels:

IP protection levels provide a classification system for products based on their resistance to dust, water, and impacts, according to the standard iec60529. Dust protection levels range from 1 to 6, while water protection levels range from 1 to 8.

The protection level is typically expressed with IP followed by two digits. The digits specify the protection level:

- The first digit indicates the extent of protection against dust or harmfUL intrusion in a sealed environment, with the highest level being 6.

- The second digit indicates the degree of water protection, with the highest level being 8.

Waterproof testing includes the second digit ranging from 1 to 8, corresponding to protection levels IPX1 to IPX8.

Fee Structure for IP Waterproof Testing:

The cost of IP waterproof testing generally depends on the size and weight of the product being tested. For a basic waterproof test on a small and lightweight product, the cost might be around $500. However, for larger and heavier products, the testing fee can range from $800 to $2000 or more. For detailed pricing, you can contact JJR Lab, where the fees are approximately 30% lower compaRED to other laboratories.
