How much does EMC testing for CE certification cost?

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is a directive for electronic products to obtain CE certification. It involves a comprehensive evaluation of the electronic product's interference level (EMI) and its anti-interference capability (EMS) in the electromagnetic field. This is a crucial indicator of product quality. EMC measurements consist of a testing site and testing instruments. Due to the conventional testing items for EMC and LVD, the engineers at JJR Labs in China will conduct the relevant project tests and provide quotations based on the actual situation and needs of your product. The approximate cost is around USD 300 to USD 600.

EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive Requirements:

For certain types of products seeking CE certification, only the CE-EMC directive is requiRED. However, if the product's operating voltage is between AC (50~1000V) or DC (75V~1500V), ce-lvd safety certification is also necessary, and the costs for these certifications will differ. The cost of CE certification for mechanical products is much higher than for ordinary products due to the involvement of factory inspection procedures and evaluations.

Main emc testing Items:

- Radiation: EN55011, 13, 22; fcc part 15 & 18; VCCI

- Conducted Interference: EN55011, 13, 14-1, 15, 22; FCC Part 15 & 18; VCCI

- Click: EN55014-1

- Power Radiation: EN55013, 14-1

- Magnetic Emission: EN55011, 15

- Low Frequency Immunity: EN50091-2

- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): iec61000-4-2, en61000-4-2, GB/T17626.2

- Radiated Immunity (R/S): IEC61000-4-3, EN61000-4-3, GB/T17626.3

- Electrical Fast Transient/Burst (EFT/B): IEC61000-4-4, EN61000-4-4, GB/T17626.4

- Surge Immunity: IEC61000-4-5, EN61000-4-5, GB/T17626.5

- Conducted Disturbances Immunity (C/S): IEC61000-4-6, EN61000-4-6, GB/T17626.6

- Power Frequency Magnetic Field Immunity (M/S): IEC61000-4-8, EN61000-4-8, GB/T17626.8

- Voltage Dips: IEC61000-4-11, EN61000-4-11, GB/T17626.11

Introduction to the Two Main Components of emc testing:

EMC includes two main components: EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and EMS (Electromagnetic Susceptibility, Anti-interference).

- emi testing items include:

  - RE (Radiated Emission)

  - CE (Conducted Interference)

  - Harmonic

  - Flicker

- EMS testing items include:

  - ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)

  - EFT (Electrical Fast Transient)

  - DIP (Voltage Dips)

  - CS (Conducted Immunity)

  - RS (Radiated Immunity)

  - Surge (Lightning Surge)

  - Harmonic Current: IEC61000-3-2, EN61000-3-2

  - Voltage Flicker: IEC61000-3-3, EN61000-3-3

Documents Required for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Certification:

1. Two sets of samples that can function normally, with higher power and complexity.

2. Product manual.

3. Circuit schematic (if the test fails, this needs to be provided).

If there are no issues with the product CE-EMC test, it can be completed and certified within 5-7 working days.
