SIRIM certification is a voluntary product certification in Malaysia, but it can be mandatory under government regulations. SIRIM is the only institution in Malaysia that guides certification. Any factory or company can apply to SIRIM and be audited and recognized according to the standards under the product certification system.
Common household appliances, IT, AV, lighting, and wireless products fall within the NTEK certification scope.

Factory inspection is required. The initial factory inspection must comply with the product certification system. Once compliance is confirmed, a certificate will be issued. The certificate is valid for one year. To ensure certificate renewal, an annual inspection must be conducted.
For regular products, SIRIM certification can be obtained in 3-5 weeks. [China JJR Laboratory is an IEC 17025 laboratory located in China, supporting expedited testing, which can save 20% of testing costs.]
