According to statistics, the total export volume from France to the United States in the first 10 months of 2024 reached $427.83 billion, a 12.44% increase compared to the previous year. France has always been a major exporter to the United States, and French products entering the U.S. market must undergo relevant certifications. Holding a CE certificate does not automatically grant access to the U.S. market. For instance, electronic products require FCC certification, UL certification (optional), and toys require CPC Certification, among others. JJR Laboratory has partnered with several French manufacturers to assist them in obtaining FCC certifications and other required certifications. You can send your products to our laboratory for testing and certification.
FCC stands for the Federal Communications Commission, which was established in 1934 under the Communications Act and is an independent agency of the U.S. government directly responsible to Congress. The FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by regulating radio broadcasting, television, telecommunications, satellites, and cable. It ensures the safety of radio and cable communication products related to life and property across more than 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
Common digital products, household appliances, lighting, communication, and radio products need to obtain FCC approval to enter the U.S. market.
FCC certification is divided into two types based on whether a product has wireless radio frequency functions:
1. fcc sdoc Certification: For products that are electrically powered but do not have wireless functions.
2. fcc id Certification: For products with wireless functions.
The FCC announced a new certification mode called SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity) on November 2, 2017, replacing the previous FCC Verification and DoC certification procedures.
FCC SDOC Certification applies to the following products:
- Information Technology Products:
- Smart devices, personal computers and peripherals, monitors, keyboards, mice, adapters, gaming consoles, servers, cameras
- Home Appliances:
- Refrigerators, electric kettles, electronic sterilizers, microwaves, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, electric shavers, fans, electronic toys
- Audio and Video Products:

- Lighting Products:

- Industrial Equipment:
- Industrial machinery, medical devices, power tools, security equipment
FCC ID Certification is required for wireless products sold in the U.S. The FCC reviews the samples (or photos) and test data submitted by applicants. If the product meets FCC regulations, the FCC grants an FCC ID number and issues a certification.
FCC ID Certification applies to the following products:
- Bluetooth Products:
- Bluetooth keyboards and mice, Bluetooth speakers, Bluetooth remotes, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth selfie sticks, Bluetooth smart devices
- Wi-Fi Products:
- Wi-Fi routers, smart appliances, computers, advertising displays, cameras, monitors

1. Selection of Certification Mode: We will choose the appropriate FCC certification mode for your product, provide a quote, and sign a certification agreement with you.
2. Preparation of Test Samples: The customer prepares test samples (for wireless products, a fixed-frequency prototype is required) and provides the necessary product documentation.
3. Testing: Once we receive the products and documentation, our testing agency will begin testing the product.
4. For FCC SDoC Certification: Once testing is complete, we will issue the certification directly, and the project will be finished.
5. For FCC ID Certification: We will assist first-time applicants in registering for an FCC Grantee Code.
6. Report Submission: After testing is completed, we will submit the product report and relevant technical data to an FCC-TCB agency for review.
7. FCC ID Certification Issuance: Once the review is complete, the FCC-TCB agency will issue the FCC ID certificate. We will then send the official report and FCC ID certificate to you, and the project will be completed.
