For the European market, the European Commission mandates that all LED lighting products exported to the EU must obtain CE certification. Only products with the CE mark can be sold in the European market. The "CE" mark is a mandatory certification mark within the EU market. Whether products are produced by EU internal enterprises or other countries, they must bear the "CE" mark to circulate freely in the EU market, indicating that the product meets the basic requirements of the EU's "New Approach Directives" on technical harmonization and standardization. This is a mandatory requirement under EU law.
CE Certification for LED Lighting: EN62493 Standard Testing Content
Two tests are required for CE certification of lighting fixtures: CE-EMC and CE-LVD.
- Lighting standards: EN55015
- EN61574, EN60598
- LVD standards for bulbs and energy-saving lamps: EN60968
- Household appliance standards: EN55014, EN60335
- IT product standards: EN55022, EN55024, EN60950
- AV product standards: EN55013, EN55020, EN60065
- Ballast standards: EN61347
To comply with the EMF requirements of this standard, the following related requirements must be met:
- 20 kHz - 30 MHz Mains Terminal Disturbance Voltage
- 100 kHz - 30 MHz Radiated Electromagnetic Disturbance
- 30 MHz - 300 MHz Radiated Electromagnetic Disturbance
- Induced Current Density (MHz) - Not required by EN55015
The first three test items mentioned above have completely the same test methods and limits as the traditional standard EN55015, only differing in frequency range. Given that the product range applicable to EN62493 is very similar to that of EN55015, applying for CE certification/EMC and EN62493 certification simultaneously can significantly reduce certification costs and time, improve product quality, gain a competitive edge in product export, and avoid unnecessary economic losses.
