With the increasing popULarity of electronic technology, there are more and more interference sources in the electromagnetic environment, and the electromagnetic compatibility of products has received great attention from governments and manufacturers. In order to regulate the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic products, developed countries and some developing countries have jointly formulated EMC standards, which also means that electronic products need to pass EMC tests in the research and development stage , and improve the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic products based on the test results to make them meet the corresponding EMC standards, so that they have sufficient competitiveness and are recognized by the outside world.

What is emc testing?

EMC testing, also known as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), refers to the comprehensive assessment of the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and anti-interference ability (EMS) of electronic products. It is one of the most important indicators of product quality. The measurement of electromagnetic compatibility consists of test sites and test instruments.

The purpose of EMC testing is to detect the impact of electromagnetic radiation generated by electrical products on the human body, power grids in public places, and other normally working electrical products. Electromagnetic compatibility testing is divided into two categories:

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) test: Tests the interference emission of electronic product systems to other devices and electromagnetic space.

Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS) test: tests the ability of electronic equipment to resist electromagnetic interference in space.

Why do we need to do electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing?

1. Product certification needs: CCC, CE, FCC, and UL product certifications all require electromagnetic compatibility certification and corresponding electromagnetic compatibility certificates;

2. To meet the needs of market users, manufacturers need to have an electromagnetic compatibility test report before purchasing the product, or an electromagnetic compatibility test report will be a plus point when bidding;

3. Verify the reliability of the product and expand its popularity.

4. The need to apply for approval of national scientific research projects.

Electromagnetic compatibility EMC test items

EMS immunity test: electrostatic discharge, radiation immunity, pulse group, surge impact, conducted immunity, power frequency magnetic field, voltage sag, pulse magnetic field, damped oscillation magnetic field, pulse magnetic field, ringing wave, oscillation wave, power supply end harmonic immunity test, etc.;

EMI emission test: conducted emission, radiated emission, harmonic current, voltage flicker, etc.
