The electric hammer is a widely used power tool. It is an electric drill with an added piston driven by an electric motor via a crankshaft and connecting rod. This piston reciprocates inside a cylinder, compressing air, causing periodic changes in the air pressure. The fluctuating air pressure drives a hammer in the cylinder to strike the top of the drill bit, similar to using a hammer to strike the bit.
