Currently, any products with electrical components that are listed or sold on European sites such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and other EU sites, must have CE-EMC (Electric) certification. What is CE-EMC certification?
CE certification is a mandatory certification in the EU. Products exported to the EU must comply with EU standards within the scope of the directive and have a CE mark to be sold locally. Cross-border e-commerce is no exception.
1. CE-LVD Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU
Applicable to electronic and electrical products with AC voltage of 50V-1000V and DC voltage of 75V-1500V. Representative products include household appliances, IT products, AV products, and powered machinery, all of which need to comply with CE-LVD certification.
2. CE-EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU
Applicable to electronic and electrical products with circuit boards that can generate electromagnetic interference. Representative products include household appliances, IT products, AV products, and 3C digital products, all of which need to comply with CE-EMC certification.
3. CE-RED Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU
Mainly applicable to radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment. Representative products include Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, and routers, all of which require CE-RED certification.
4. CE-ROHS Environmental Directive 2011/65/EU
Applicable to electronic and electrical products such as household appliances, audio and video equipment, lamps, power tools, and medical devices.
5. CE-MD Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Applicable to machinery products equipped with power systems. Powered machinery must also comply with CE-LVD certification. Representative products include packaging machinery, injection molding machinery, woodworking machinery, and construction machinery.
6. CE-PPE Personal Protective Equipment Directive 89/686/EEC
Applicable to devices or appliances worn or carried by a person to prevent one or more health and safety hazards. Representative products include protective masks, earplugs, and safety helmets.
7. CE-CPR Construction Products Directive (EU) 305/2011
Applicable mainly to building materials used in construction. Representative products include fire doors, protective walls, and network cables.
8. CE-PED Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU
Mainly applicable to containers, pipelines, safety components, and pressure parts with a maximum working pressure exceeding 0.5 bar. Representative products include pressure valves.
9. CE-MDR Medical Devices Directive (EU) 2017/745
Mainly applicable to general medical devices such as ECG machines, medical masks, and thermometers.
10. CE-EN71 Toy Directive 2009/48/EC
Mainly applicable to toy products such as plush toys and building blocks.
11. CE-ATEX Explosive Atmospheres Directive 94/9/EC
Mainly applicable to products used in potentially explosive environments. Representative products include explosion-proof lamps.
12. CE-RCD Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/EC
Mainly applicable to yacht products.
13. CE-LIFTS Elevator Directive 95/16/EC
Mainly applicable to elevators and related equipment.
14. CE-MID Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC
Mainly applicable to measuring instruments such as electronic scales, thermometers, and laser measuring devices.
This time, TEMU requires CE-EMC, which is the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive with the directive number 2014/30/EU. Depending on the product, different standards must be met, including:
- Household appliances: EN 55014-1, EN 55014-2
- General lighting and LED lighting products: EN 55015, EN 61547
- Audio-video and IT equipment: EN 55032
- General equipment for residential, commercial, and light-industrial environments: EN 61000-6-1, EN 61000-6-3
- Industrial general equipment: EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4
Of course, electronic and electrical products applying for CE certification must also comply with the CE-RoHS environmental directive. If the supply voltage exceeds AC 50V or DC 75V, they must also comply with the CE-LVD safety directive. Products with wireless modules must also comply with the CE-RED wireless directive.
