Amazon's US site has implemented a new policy, primarily for the compliance management of "button cells and coin cells and products containing such cells." This means that whether the seller sells batteries separately or includes them in the entire product, it falls within the scope of this new policy.
Additionally, Amazon has provided examples of consumer goods containing batteries, including but not limited to calculators, cameras, flameless candles, flashing apparel, footwear, holiday decorations, keychain flashlights, musical greeting cards, remote controls, and clocks. Amazon explicitly warns that if you fail to submit compliance documents and successfully pass the review before the product delisting date, your product will face the risk of delisting. It is estimated that many sellers of products containing batteries will start to feel the headache again.
The UL 4200A standard is a mandatory safety standard for button cell or coin cell product safety passed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). It ensures the safety of products containing button cells during use, reduces the risk of children removing button cells from products, and swallowing batteries, typically involving children under the age of four.
Child-resistant compartment: Covered consumer goods must have a child-resistant battery compartment. It should be possible to manually open the battery compartment using tools or by at least two independent and simultaneous actions to prevent young children from easily accessing the battery.
Packaging requirements: Starting from February 12, 2023, button cells or coin cells sold, manufactured, or imported into the United States must comply with the child-resistant packaging requirements in the "Poison Prevention Packaging Standards."
Performance testing: Consumer goods must pass a series of performance tests, simulating reasonable foreseeable use or misuse.
Labeling requirements: The packaging of button cells or coin cells and consumer goods containing these cells must have specific warning labels to alert consumers to the hazards of ingestion to children. Definition of button cells or coin cells: Single cells with a maximum diameter not exceeding 32 millimeters (1.25 inches) and a diameter greater than their height. Battery
