The General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) is a certification requirement issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). It applies to general-purpose, non-children's products such as adult clothing, ensuring these products comply with U.S. safety standards and regulations. The GCC is a written declaration provided by manufacturers or importers confirming their products have passed a reasonable testing program and meet specific safety standards.
Unlike the Children's Product Certificate (CPC), which applies to children’s products (e.g., toys), the GCC is applicable to ordinary consumer goods not involving children's safety, such as household items, clothing, and footwear.
The gcc certificate must include the following:
- Product identification and applicable standards/regulations
- Importer or manufacturer information
- Product description, production date, and location
- Test results and the name of the testing laboratory
Important Notes:
✅ Not all clothing products require GCC certification. Only clothing listed in the CPSC's GCC product list needs certification. Sellers should confirm if their products are included in the list.
✅ GCC certificates and test reports do not have a defined validity period. Sellers are advised to update certificates regularly and retest when there are changes in product design or manufacturing processes.
According to platform requirements, the uploaded GCC certificate must meet the following conditions:
1. Consistency of Documentation
All test items, test report numbers, models, and style numbers must be consistent. The third-party testing agency, manufacturer information, testing dates, and addresses must match actual conditions.
2. Documentation Standards
The uploaded GCC certificate must be the official version and include at least an English version. All documents must be authentic and valid; falsification is not allowed.
3. Product Image Requirements
In submitted images of the product, model numbers, style numbers, manufacturer names, and addresses must not use pinyin.
4. Testing Report Requirements
The test report must include product information, images of test samples, the institution's signature and seal, and other relevant details.
5. GCC Certificate Content Requirements
The certificate must include:
- The certificate holder's name and address
- Importer and manufacturer information
- Production date and location
- Detailed information about the third-party testing agency
6. GCC Testing Requirements
Clothing products must comply with the flammability requirements specified in 16 CFR 1610. If other regulatory testing is required, sellers must perform the tests truthfully and ensure their products comply with all applicable regulations.
