FCC certification is a requirement from the Federal Communications Commission for radio frequency devices and telecommunication equipment. It ensures that these devices comply with U.S. communication regULations and standards, preventing interference with other wireless devices or users.

The goal is to ensure compliance of radio devices with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations, REDucing interference, and ensuring user safety and a better experience.

FCC certification applies to products using wireless technology or frequencies, including but not limited to wireless communication devices, wireless networking equipment, Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi devices, wireless remote controls, and wireless audio devices.

Types of FCC Certification

There are two main types of FCC certification:

1. fcc sdoc (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity):

This is suitable for general electronic products, such as electronic scales, humidifiers, robotic vacuums, fans, and other devices without wireless functionality.

2. fcc id (FCC Certification):

This applies to products with wireless transmission capabilities, such as Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi equipment, wireless alarm systems, radio transmission and reception devices, mobile phones, and computers.

How Much Does fcc certification cost?

Step 1: Determine the Type of FCC Certification Needed

1. For general products:

Examples: electronic scales, humidifiers, robotic vacuums, fans, etc.

If these products do not include wireless functionality, FCC-sdoc certification is sufficient.

2. For wireless products:

Examples: mobile phones, wireless remote controls, Bluetooth speakers, tablets, etc.

These require FCC-ID certification.

3. For other wireless products:

Products that can function without their wireless features or have USB interfaces for data transfer.

In such cases, it is recommended to perform both FCC-SDoC and FCC-ID certifications.

Step 2: Evaluate Costs Based on Product Type

1. For general products without wireless functionality (FCC-SDoC):

- Cost: Approximately $650–$1200

- Timeline: 10–15 working days

2. For wireless products (FCC-ID):

- Cost: Starting at $1600

- Timeline: Around 4 weeks

3. For other wireless products (FCC-SDoC and FCC-ID together):

- Cost: Starting at $1800

- Note: Consult with specialized labs, such as China’s JJR Lab, for precise details.
