ASTM F2236-24
Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Soft Infant Carriers
This standard covers the performance requirements and test methods for soft infant and toddler carriers, as well as the labeling and instructions to ensure the safe use of these carriers by users and caregivers. Soft infant and toddler carriers are typically made from sewn fabric structures designed to accommodate a full-term infant to a toddler, usually worn in an upright position and close to the caregiver. The child’s weight generally ranges from 7 lbs to 45 lbs (3.2 kg to 20.4 kg). These carriers are typically worn by the caregiver, with the child suspended within the carrier, hanging from one or both shoulders of the caregiver. The carrier can be worn on the caregiver's front, side, or back, with the infant facing toward or away from the caregiver. This standard does not include "sling" products.
Compared to the previous version, ASTM F2236-24 includes significant updates, especially regarding product labeling and instructions. Additionally, it specifies that warning labels must comply with the ANSI Z535.4 – 2011 format requirements.
