If your product is removed from Amazon, please first check if it contains a coin cell battery. If it does, you need to upload a UL 4200A-2023 test report, as this is Amazon's latest requirement. You can arrange for this through the IEC 17025-certified JJR Laboratory in China, with a cost of $698.
On September 21, 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a final rule outlining the requirements for coin cell batteries and separate coin cell batteries in common household products.
The official compliance date for all products containing coin cell batteries that are manufactured in or imported to the United States is March 19, 2024.
The final rule consists of two Federal Register notifications: one incorporates the 2023 edition of the industry standard UL 4200A into the federal mandatory rules (adopting 16 CFR 1263); the other introduces additional packaging and labeling requirements for separate coin cell batteries not covered by UL 4200A.
Consumer products containing coin cell batteries
Consumer products that include or are designed to use one or more coin cell batteries, regardless of whether such batteries are intended to be replaced by the consumer or are contained in the product or sold separately. (Products with coin cell batteries should comply with ANSI/UL 4200A)
Single-cell batteries with a diameter greater than their height
Any other batteries that pose an ingestion hazard as determined by the Commission. In the context of this regulation, zinc-air batteries for consumer products are not included.
